Adejeania vexatrix
Gold and red fly with spiky black hair.
Mountain, conifer forest.
Thank you Johan. That is a great find as well. Your puncture had great detail.
Nice one Krista! Another from my side of the pond: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/170...
Thank you so much Lauren that was very helpful. I'm happy to know what it is.
Your fly looks like Adejeania vexatrix, as in this link which is also from Colorado.
Yours also has both orange and black spines like this one. It does seem to fit Adejeania best. The thorax color and pattern also fit. This species also has long palpi in front of the head as does yours. http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/image/467..., http://www.cirrusimage.com/flies_Tachini...

Thanks Lauren, do you know the exact species? I really like it as well.
Thanks Emily and Luis.
