Narrow Leaf Cattail

Typha angustifolia

Description:

The plant's leaves are flat, very narrow and 3'-6' tall when mature. At maturity, they have distinctive stalks that are about as tall as the leaves; the stalks are topped with brown, fluffy, sausage-shaped flowering heads.

Habitat:

This cattail is often found in the northern hemisphere in brackish locations.

Notes:

A large number of cattail were spotted on Hwy 29 near Pine Lake.
