Green Jumping Spider

Mopsus Mormon

Description:

Female Green Jumping Spider. About 12 mm in length, almost translucent. Very unafraid and curious when "threatened" by a camera. Tried to jump onto the lens several time during the photo shoot. Uses a silk tether when jumping. Legs and strong mandibles have some hair on them, rest of the body is hair-free.

Habitat:

Encountered on several occasions in my house in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. According to descriptions found on Wikipedia and other sites they can be found on New Guinea, and in Australia in northern NSW, in WA, in NT and very commonly in QLD.
