The glossy ibis' body is a deep glossy bronzy chestnut. A medium sized marsh wader (23-24 inches) with a long curved bill, thin blue lines edging dark face. This picture was taken from a distance and this glossy ibis appears quite black.
Marshes, rice fields, swamps. This glossy ibis (along with several others) was in the salt water marsh at Chincoteague Island National Wildlife Refuge in Chincoteague, Virginia
