Northern Flicker (red-shafted)

Description:

In California some variations differ then back east.
There are three types of Northern Flickers noticable of the males.
Red-shafted which will have a red mustache, flight feathers and under tail feathers.
Yellow-shafted which has a black mustache, red crescent on the nape and yellow flight feathers and under the tail. Intergrade is when there is a hybrid of both Red and Yellow - shafted.
This one is a Red-shafted

Habitat:

This was spotted in public park in a canyon that has a creek running through it.
