South American sea lion

Otaria flavescen

Description:

It was fish washing time at Punta del Este`s port and the sealions and seagulls gathered around the fishermen waiting for their share. About five sealions patiently waited for their piece while seagulls flew around and even stood on them competing for the treats. Some of the sealions at Punta del Este`s port are very big so they seem to be quite old and they seem to enjoy getting the treats a lot.

Habitat:

These sealions inhabit the "Isla de Lobos" that is in Punta del Este`s coast. This island is considered the second biggest reserve of sealions in the world.

Notes:

Sealions may commonly be spotted all around Uruguay`s Atlantic coast. #GreatNature
