Jumping Spider

Phidippus putnami

Habitat:

This is a prairie/deciduous mix. The area actually many years ago was a waste disposal area. The town turned most of it into a prairie restoration park. They still dump brush and rock out there, but no more "waste".

Notes:

This is actually a first sighting of this species for me! I love finding new ones, especially when they are jumping spiders:) I struggled with the id for quite some time, as it immediately looked like an immature bold jumper. However, the brown outlines on the face and the fork markings near the tip of the abdomen had me puzzled.
