This guy wondered onto my driveway early in the morning. It is just a bit bigger than a football.
Beautiful find Mary! I do agree with jamiewgoodspeed that this is a Common Snapping Turtle. One way to tell the difference is to look at the shell. Alligator Snapping Turtles have more distinct ridges on the shell.
