Polistes dominula
This boldly-striped yellow and black wasp is a social wasp species. They are nearly hairless and are approximately 1 cm (.5 in) in length. Can sting repeatedly and are very aggressive in defending their nest.
Widely spread throughout Europe, northern Africa, and are found as an exotic, invasive species in eastern and central North America and parts of South America.
This insect resembles the North American species of yellow jackets, which they often replace as their population spreads.
