Mangrove Root Crab

Goniopsis cruentata

Description:

A relatively common crab species seen during my one week stay on Wee Wee Caye off of Belize. Roughly 6-10 cm (2-4 in) in total width.

Habitat:

Mangrove swamps, marshes, muddy banks; low muddy areas adjacent to estuaries.
