Spotting

Description:

Bracket polypores found on a dead log. Many have merged into a long bracket whilst others have grown individually. Smooth edges but fibrous/fuzzy on top. Also has a stripe along leading edge. Younger specimens are very pale, and it appears that, as they age, they turn cream and gradually brown off in colour. Growing along side Scarlet Bracket - Pycnoporus coccineus (2nd photo). What appears to be small white eggs or droppings (4th photo).

Habitat:

Found these specimens on a dead log by Northbrook Creek in Bryden. The area was well shaded for most of the day, lush and green due to frequent rains these past couple of months.

Notes:

Two species together in previous spotting - http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/304...
