A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Libellula flavida
Widespread dragonfly of the eastern United States. The female, pictured here, has yellow along the side of the abdomen, while the thorax is slightly greener. Found from March through to October. Males patrol and guard small pools for hunting.
Found along a nature trail through a swampy forest in Orlando, FL
There were lots of dragonflies around, but very few remained still enough for good photos. This one of the few!
