Coluber constrictor
~1.2 meter long shiny, black snake with bluish-white belly.
Found on paved road on Natchez Trace Parkway.
I waited and watched for traffic to allow the snake to safely leave the road and in return, it allowed me to get some beautiful photos.

Congratulations Lisa! Love this!
Great photos Lisa
Well deserved recognition.
Congratulations on the SOTD ! Love the 2nd picture ! :)
Congrats Lisa, your good deed and awesome photos have earned you Spotting of the Day! The North American racer is an extremely fast moving snake as its name suggests, and also an excellent swimmer. Despite its scientific name "constrictor", the racer usually crushes its victim into the ground instead of actually suffocating it. Smaller prey is simply swallowed alive.
