Greater Texas Bullet Ant

Description:

There were two of these ants working together as they checked out this log. Aka the Hairy panther ant is the largest of the subfamily Ponerinae. Along with being very large, it has a distinctive head shape and like other bullet ants, it can deliver a painful sting.

Habitat:

Spotted foraging on a log with "banana brew" a sweet paste applied to logs by the N.B.C. to attract wildlife along the trails through the forested areas.
