Spotting

Description:

Brown wings, antenna, 4 legs (I think)

Habitat:

Girls camp (which is a eastern idaho forest/mountain area)

Notes:

It was very friendly and sat on my friend's hand for probably 20 minutes before it flew away!

It looks a lot like the European comma butterfly. See my spottings:

is called like that because of the c white shape in the wing. What it puzzles me is that your spotting is in America and I am not sure whether they are also normally found in there (?). If not it could then be a related species or subespecies.
