Chlosyne erodyle
This butterfly comes with either pale yellow or white on the hind wing patches. The underside of the wings also can be either yellow or white. The upper side has 2 red spots and the underside has several. The fourth picture is of several individuals "puddling". The upper side of this species looks very similar to the underside of the Crimson Patch : (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/376...). Both are Nymphalids of the same size and hang out together puddling in the gravel along the highway. The last picture was taken on 22 August 2015 very close to the same site as the other individuals.
Flowers and shrubbery along the highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tuxtla Gutierrez, km 11.5, 865 meters.
