Mandarin duck (Eclipse plumage)

Aix galericulata

Description:

As we can see in the accompanying reference web site, mandarin duck males can also have a switch of plumage to what is called "eclipse", less flashy than what we are used to see. This is an specimen which is either still young or an adult in non-breeding mode. Still very beautiful, with red beak and iridescent blue wing feathers.

Habitat:

Same place as for the siberian chipmunk, lake in park near Brussels. Female also spotted in the same place.
