Tenodera sinensis
I found this hanging on a branch in one of my bushes. Is it a fungus or a cocoon of sorts? My kids & I are curious. There are no openings in to it. Any help is appreciated!

This looks like an egg sac of a mantis species, this would put it in the arthropod category.
