Palpopleura lucia
Dragonfly. Head to the tip of the tail: 3-4 cm. Pale blue body.
It landed in the garden next to a temporary puddle of water, caused by a hose. Urban environment
I hope that the black pattern of the wings can be enough to suggest an ID of this. These are the only pictures I have...
Yey, I had hoped for your knowledge here, as well as a chance to learn a bit more about this spotting! Thank you so far rautenbachf!
Butterflies, dragonflies and birds, are there any other areas you are professional in?
Have a great day "down there" :)

Portia widow (http://www.warwicktarboton.co.za/dfpgs/1...) or Lucia widow (http://www.warwicktarboton.co.za/dfpgs/1...). The leave it is sitting on is just obscuring a part of the wing that is crucial to distinguish between the two. But I will have a another look later.
