These honeyeaters look and sound very similar to Noisy Miners and are common right across Australia except for on the south-east coast where we have lived for the last ten years! So it was a treat to see this one in our front yard in Roma.

I saw some at Wyperfield many years ago (1985?) way before we started snapping for Noah unfortunately. You're right about the tiny range maybe 100x100 kms now - and shrinking. Genetic swamping by yellow throats :(

Have you seen a Black-eared Miner, Mark? Apparently the range is really restricted.

There's another one that looks quite similar too Neil.... uummm.... Black eared miner from around Mildura. Nice to see this one Shanna.
