Black morel mushroom

Description:

It looked like a morel, so I took it to university of michigan, dearborn. A mycologist said it is indeed a black morel.

Habitat:

In my neighbors's front lawn, sub urban neighborhood. Neighbor used to have a tree (either elm or ash, I forget). Full sunlight. Found in the city of dearborn heights, michigan.

Notes:

Smells very shroomy, rare for this area. Note that the location of this specimen was actually found across the street (in the empty yard) from where it was marked on the map.
