Red-Eyed Vireo

Vireo olivaceus

Description:

Olive back with gray cap. Distinct black bar over the eye, and a black-bordered white eyebrow that distinguishes it from other vireos. The red eye is not obvious without proper lighting.

Habitat:

Woodlands, shade trees, groves.

Notes:

More often heard than seen. The call can be described as sounding like a conversation. These are photos of potentially two different birds. There were two jumping and flying around the trees. Unusual to see them so active and so near the ground.
