Nature School For Teachers - Fall 2020 Launch!
Please can you update the spotting with the correct info now that Jacob has provided a correct ID for you. Thanks.
Hi k.andrews6,No worries about the confusion! It's really up to you whether or not to take down the ID suggestion. Leaving it up does provide a valuable source of information as it discusses two different, yet similar species.
Should I remove the recommendation or leave it for the sake of having a complete record of the discussion? I'm unsure of the protocol here.
You certainly appear to be correct. Thanks for the correction and sorry for the confusion. I will try to be more careful in the future.
I apologize for pasting the wrong thing, here is the reference link: http://bugguide.net/node/view/3942
Danaus plexippus, though similar, is a lighter and brighter orange when compared to Danaus gilippus. Considering that factor and some differences of the ventral pattern, I think this is Danaus gilippus. Here is a reference link: Species Danaus gilippus - Queen - Hodges#4615
Very nice pic. Thanks for sharing.
