No problem. I love fiddler crabs! And yes there are quite a few species of Fiddler Crabs in Florida. I have not found a good list of them yet. Hopefully someone will identify it (Uca spp.).

That makes so much sense. Thnx for this very fun and useful info! Only the color made me think a little. I also came across red colored crabs which I know are fiddler crabs.

These are a species of Fiddler Crab. I'm unsure of which species unfortunately. :) Fiddler Crabs are so fun to watch especially if there is a ton of them. When they move they sound like the ocean. They males have one claw larger than the other to attract the females to their burrow. The bigger claw and the more and larger they wave the claw the more attractive it looks. Digging the burrows may also aid in increasing aeration in the soil and more nutrients available which aids in plant growth (mangroves). They are good indicators of the health of their ecosystem.
