Owl

Description:

Bright yellow eyes with dusty-colored feathers.

Habitat:

Wooded forest in Washington state.

Notes:

I had seen an owl swoop by the day before and thought I missed my photo op. However, the next day I took a little hike and followed the commotion of some squawking robins and they put me right at this tree with this owl staring down at me. I was able to grab one quick shot before it flew away. I'm not exactly sure what kind of owl it is, but it was gorgeous.

Great day for it, cool, overcast light. Thanks for including the back story, the context about what happened just before the photo, and the image that captures a moment of decision ... yes, probably best to fly away. Really nice spotting.

It's a great horned owl. Trust me, I know my birds.
Just to tell you-is the most feared owl in all of North America.
