Broad-banded Water Snake

Nerodia fasciata confluens

Description:

This snake has a dark back and mostly red belly. This is the strangest looking N. f. confluens I've ever seen, but I think it is just a locale thing because a friend found one that looks like this just a few weeks before I found this one.

Habitat:

Found while road cruising, on the road between flooded fields.
