Striped Assassin Bug

Description:

A medium-sized assassin bug with red and black stripes as a warning sign to keep predators away. About 20mm in length. It flew in attracted to the night lights, suggesting that this is a nocturnal insect. This insect seems to be from either Velitra, Tapeinus or Staliastes.

Habitat:

Possibly on plants. Spotted it crawling on the veranda floor Sukau B&B lobby, Lower Kinabatangan, Sabah.

Notes:

>>>Map accuracy: 10m diameter. This is the first and only spotting I have for this species so these guys must be quite rare. Special thanks to Leo Davranoglou for these genera suggestions.

Just to note that I had said it is a species of Velitra, not Tapeinus.
