A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Mycena viscidocruenta
A small mushroom with a bright red cap and coarse almost white gills visible through the top.
Found in wood chips in a garden bed at a local nature reserve.
For a better description and photos refer to professor Leuba, http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/357... Photographing the underside can be dangerous when there are other photographers about but we must make sacrifices for science. Note the pesky reflecion of the ring flash

Thanks for your comment Ernst Weiher
We would have had to flag that one anyway.
I wish I had that shot of you prostrate in the (very dubious) mulch to add here.
Thanks Leuba
Thanks Agustín
Beautiful! Such great intense color!
Fantastic spotting!
Martin, these are wonderful shots. You've got all the aspects of these little beauties, so well.
viscido = slimy

Thanks Mark, what a delightful science Mycology is...
It certainly looks viscid.. I can see your ring in it. :-)
