Curve-tailed Bush Katydid

Scudderia curvicauda

Description:

Bright green, large hind legs, one of which was missing. Maybe 3-4 cm in size. A bit of a curved "tail".

Notes:

I'm still a little unsure exactly which Katydid this is...

My pleasure! Looks like this one is a immature katydid. why don't start your search by clicking Organisms here on the PN page and then type katydid and Ontario in the search bar. I think that you will be satisfied with the results.

thanks for the hint larry! now i just have to track down which one it is ))
i think this was the first time i actually got to see one -- i was quite convinced it was just a unusual looking grasshopper.

Lovely Katydid! Katydid's and Grasshoppers can mainly be distinguished by the antennae. Katydid have very long antennae usually as long or longer than their bodies. Grasshopper's have short antennae. Nice spotting
