Cocoi heron

Ardea cocoi

Description:

This beautiful Cocoi heron stood at the sea shore for a very long time and it seemed to enjoy the wind blowing its feathers and the waves crashing against the rocks splashing some water on it. At a certain moment it flew away only to come back a few minutes later and stand on the same rock and in the same position. It hardly moved or walk and when it did, it did it in a very slow way. It eats fish, frogs and small reptiles

Habitat:

Around South America. It can be spotted all over Uruguay. It lives near river shores, river mouths or near the sea shore. In this particular picture it was standing at the Atlantic shore in José Ignacio, Maldonado, Uruguay.

Notes:

There were several species of birds on the same place and they all flew and walked near each other. In these pictures you can see seagulls and oyster catchers flying and walking around the Cocoi heron. #GreatNature
