Zebra Longwing

Heliconius charitonius

Description:

The Zebra Longwing or Zebra Heliconian (Heliconius charithonia)[1][2] is a species of butterfly belonging to the subfamily Heliconiinae of the Nymphalidae. The wings long and narrow; black with narrow yellow stripes. According to wiki, like Zebras, they each have a different stripe pattern.

Habitat:

Tropical hammocks, moist forests, edges, fields.

Notes:

The Zebra Longwing was declared the official butterfly for the state of Florida in the United States in 1996.
