Babies have a row of blotches down the back and each side, and the belly is mostly unpatterned.

Habitat:

Found on the road at night in a marsh.

Thanks beaker98! I think all Nerodia are aggressive haha. This guy sat there motionless for awhile while I took pictures, then out of nowhere started lunging at me trying to bite and was jumping all over the place. He was tiny so it was more cute than anything, but as a general rule water snakes are mostly all really mean haha. Still love them though!

Great series Ashley! Are these very aggressive? I have Northern water snakes in my region, and they are quite aggressive. Just curious.
