Northern Brown Snake

Storeria dekayi dekayi

Description:

Light brown snake (Hence the name) with two thin dark stripes going down the back. On the neck there is a checkered pattern that fades, square dark marks behind the jaw, and there is a small dark stripe behind the eye.

Habitat:

Found under a board with two Garter Snakes.

Notes:

Immediately noticed the difference between the two other snakes. I have not encountered this species before and he was very cooperative and did not attempt to strike.

Glad you got a new snake! They are either really sweet or have a big attitude, but either way they are too small to do anything and are just cute when they are striking at you :)
