Tropical Orb Weaver

Eriophora ravilla

Description:

About an inch long. Golden orange abdomen , feet tipped with black.

Notes:

It was walking across our front porch sidewalk. When I approached it with my camera, it got frightened and instantly tucked itself into this tight ball. It was. Impossible to coax it open again, and it was still there 30 minutes later! I moved it to safety in my flower bed. So much for "horrible dangerous spiders" !
