European Green Crab

Carcinus maenas

Description:

A lovely green crab with brown markings which look like a sailboat in the first photo. His left eye seemed to be missing for unknown circumstances. Unfortunately, this species is an invasive species in North America, and has become quite widespread.

Habitat:

Found along the beach at Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park.

Notes:

Lifer! Here is the text I used to identify this crab (since the text is very long, it is broken up to series): http://decapoda.nhm.org/pdfs/11393/11393... http://decapoda.nhm.org/pdfs/11393/11393... http://decapoda.nhm.org/pdfs/11393/11393... http://decapoda.nhm.org/pdfs/11393/11393... http://decapoda.nhm.org/pdfs/11393/11393... http://decapoda.nhm.org/pdfs/11393/11393... http://decapoda.nhm.org/pdfs/11393/11393... http://decapoda.nhm.org/pdfs/11393/11393... http://decapoda.nhm.org/pdfs/11393/11393... Despite all this searching, please correct me if my ID is not correct.
