Bellemerea alpina

Description:

Bellemerea alpina, aka Brown sunken disc lichen is crustose lichen characterized by a conspicuously areolate-cracked and rather thick thallus. Colors range from whitish to beige, pale brown or gray. Growing among other lichens in a irregular mosaic like appearance.

Habitat:

Spotted on a large rock in an open meadow. Cascade mountains.
