American Dagger Moth (Caterpillar)

Acronicta americana

Description:

A small, very fuzzy, bright yellow caterpillar with long black tufts. (two behind the head, two in the middle and one at the tail).

Habitat:

Lives on and eats the leaves of various trees, including: alders, ashes, birches, elms, hickories, maples, oaks, poplars, walnuts, and willows.

Notes:

I found this little caterpillar while out looking for subjects to photograph. It was resting on the trunk of a tree and didn't move very much the entire time I was photographing it.
