Wild Boar

Sus scrofa

Description:

Not as pink and plump as the pigs in piggeries; rather scruffy looking at that! Coarse bristly skin. Spindly legs.

Habitat:

Water hole at Yala National Park. Seeing the family group was a great experience.

Notes:

The wild boar is one of the widest-ranging mammals in the world.16 subspecies are recognised, which are divided into four regional groupings. This is most likely S. scrofa cristatus
