Picture-winged fly

Delphinia picta

Description:

Adults have a distinctive wing pattern, shiny blackish-brown in color with slight overtones of yellow in a few places. They feed on herbaceous vegetation.

Habitat:

My yard

Notes:

One of the more unusual flies I have seen. For some reason, it made me think of a horse! Another reference page: http://entnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/misc...
