Dubia Cockroach

Blaptica dubia

Description:

Medium sized (1.25"/3cm) bown with orange spots. Only the male has full wings, but is a poor flyer (see picture); female has only wing stubs. Brown with muted orange spots/splotches. Other common names: Orange-spotted cockroach; Guyana spotted cockroach. Young hatch inside females.

Habitat:

New World (from Central America to northern Argentina) frugivore found in rainforest habitats where it can find fruits.

100% not Blaptica dubia, that species looks quite different from this specimen. This guy is a member of the [url=http://cockroach.speciesfile.org/Common/basic/Taxa.aspx?TaxonNameID=1172952]Epilamprinae[/url], however an ID beyond that is not probable without help from a taxonomist specializing in that group.
