Acacia verticillata

Description:

Prickly low shrub with spike-tipped phyllodes arranged in whorls of 4 to 6 around the main stem. Bright yellow balls of flowers are arranged close together on stalks about 30 mm long.

Habitat:

Spotted in an isolated area in a national park. Since spotted numerous shrubs growing in lower areas of the Dandenong Ranges.

Notes:

No pods seen as yet. Fibres from this plant have been used by indigenous people as fishing lines. Family: Mimosaceae
