Dogfish

Description:

Distance between dorsal fin and tail was about 2 1/2 to 3 feet. Critter was swimming very close to shore, within 5 or 6 feet of where waves were breaking. Help with identification needed!

Habitat:

Atlantic Ocean near shore.

Notes:

I heard a couple of fishermen say he was a dogfish. Then they left because he was taking their bait. Showed no interest in eating my toes, however.
