Malachite Butterfly

Description:

Brown and Yellow Arthropod (butterfly?)

Habitat:

dry tropical forest, southwest nicaragua, in vicinity of annual flower garden

Notes:

Spotted on zipline gear that was stored in the Ole Center (educational and cultural center at O Park). The Malachite is a neotropical brush-footed butterfly. The malachite has large wings that are black and brilliant green or yellow-green on the uppersides and light brown and olive green on the undersides.
