Pityopsis graminifolia
About 2.5 feet tall, a scrubby woody plant growing in pure sand. Leaves averaged 1-1 1/2" long, with silvery white hairs, giving the entire plant a shimmery silver shine.
transitional zone between sand pine scrub and longleaf sandhill. It was growing in both full blazing sun along the road, and a ways into the pineland.
Thank you to Hawthorn Hill wild flowers (http://hawthornhillwildflowers.blogspot....) for helping me identify this !
