Rana palustris
All Rana in North America is now Lithobates, Rana is still Rana in Europe. Same with Bufo, it is now Anaxyrus and Incilius in North America. And Eumeces is now Plestiodon, Cnemidophorus is now Aspidoscelis, and Elaphe split into 4 different ones, but it seems the one sticking with most people is Pantherophis. There are many other changes, those are just the most known ones. And many sites haven't updated their taxonomy yet, which is quite annoying, but if you Google the old name, one of the sources will show you the new name
You are most welcome. It was my pleasure. It was Ashley's knowledge and my input. Lol. Happy spotting Matt.
Thank you very much for the clarification Ashley. I noticed comments regarding a bullfrog spotting noting this. I was unsure, and hadn't, had a chance to ask if this applies to all Rana. It's safe to assume then that all frogs previously classified as Rana are now classified as Lithobates? Most on-line sources haven't necessarily noted the new taxon. I apologize for the confusion MattKehoe. Also, this is a good fit for the Amphibians of the World mission. Somehow I missed the Frogs of the Northeastern US mission, thanks.

Beautiful Pickerel frog! The genus Rana has been changed to Lithobates in the Americas though, so the proper scientific name since 2009 is Lithobates palustris :)
