A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Tenodera sinensis
Taken at Canoe Creek State Park
Oh, I almost forgot! This would be a very nice addition to the Marvelous Mantids of the World mission: http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/1573...
Welcome to Project Noah, Carla!
I agree with Hema, this looks like a Chinese Mantis. Did you really find this mantis on June 5th? The adults usually show up late summer through autumn around here and I am not very far from you. You can edit your spottings to correct the dates pretty easily. Make sure the "Spotted on" date is the date when you actually saw the organism.
If you haven't done so already, please read through the FAQ page. There you will find general guidelines for posting and information on the site. http://www.projectnoah.org/faq
You have a beautiful start here! I am looking forward to seeing more spottings from you.
