I spotted many clearwing/glasswing type butterflies at Otun Quimbaya Santuario during the 5 days I stayed there. They seemed to be the most common butterfly and would often land on low bush and then fly off when I walked past only to fly for a little while and then land low again. Sometimes they let me approach closely.
Oh awesome! Thanks for letting me know Yasser and thank you DhruvBhojwani, Gilma, beaker and Luc for the comments.
Congratulations on PODD on NGGNP.
Beautiful butterfly and great picture, dandoucette.
Congrats Dan! This awesome shot is being featured as the photo of the day on National Geographic's Great Nature Project. Check it out: http://www.greatnatureproject.org/
Thanks Mark and tbrett for the comment and ID. I'm pretty sure it's the right ID but I know these can be very tricky with very subtle differences. We will see if bayucca agrees.
