Peirates sp.
A completely black wingless assassin bug. The second is a dead specimen found nearby.
Found under a log
Here are some poorer shots I took last year. The location was identical. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/113... Some are wingless http://www.padil.gov.au/barrow-island/Pe... Here is a winged one ; http://morwellnp.pangaean.net/cgi-bin/sh...
This link seems to indicate that the winged form is a male and the wingless is female. http://peonyden.blogspot.com.au/2011/11/...
Thank you Wilson.
I found a reference to a similar one with wings and now am wondering if they are wingless at all or just nymphs. I've seen about four, all wingless. http://morwellnp.pangaean.net/cgi-bin/sh...
