Spotting

Description:

Found this spider today at my house between two windowsills starting to grub on rather large prey. Here at the house we're used to wolf spiders and the occasional brown recluse. I've never seen this kind before, does anyone know what type of spider we've got protecting us from outside elements?

thanks suzmonk.. Like I had said in the description, i'm used to getting wolf spiders and some of the nastier brown recluses. I enjoy watching them too. This one didn't seem to keen on me watching the process though, perhaps b/c I pulled out my camera and tripod to time-lapse it. It went from plain sight to high up in the corner of the windowsill. Definitely the first painted abdomen I've seen at this house that piqued my curiosity. Thanks again.

I love watching these spiders. Seems like American house spiders are always trying to eat (or wrap up) something bigger than they are ... but then again, most things are bigger than they are.
