Spotting

Description:

A small moth with wingspan about 20 mm. Wings were held flat (parallel to the ground). They were shades of brown with narrow bands of black and thin zig-zag white lines. Abdomen also showed thin white lines. Mouth parts were pointed forward, eyes prominent and black. Brown antennae were swept back.

Habitat:

Spotted near sport field with native trees.

Thanks Lori. You're right -I am thinking Pyralidae and awaiting confirmation. A very attractive little moth. I love the thin white lines. It's a pity I could not get a profile-shot.

I'd start with the "snout" moths, for obvious reasons.
